Are you on the Big Island in Hawaii looking for a resort, then you should take a closer look at the Sheraton Kona. In Hawaii there are some hotels of the Starwood hotel chain. But this resort also has a special feature that is unique in terms of Kona. Also, this slightly older resort from the '70s is in good shape visually. Only the substance of the building is somewhat disadvantageous due to the thin walls and the brightness.
The hotel is rather sprawling but has two restaurants and a few stores. If you're mobile with a rental car, you have access to dozens of restaurants in the area.
The hotel is about 20 minutes by car from Kona International Airport. For navigation in Hawaii we recommend this app >>click
To park the rental car there is a large parking lot that charges a hefty $20 per night.
The rooms are spacious and have a balcony. Depending on the location and floor, you have a beautiful view of the sea or the bay. The washbasin is integrated in the room, only shower and toilet are located separately in the room.
In addition to the room, a mandatory resort fee of $30 per night per room is added to the stay.
All guests receive a mandatory wristband which should be worn in the pool area. As an SPG Gold customer, you get two gold wristbands and can take someone extra to the pool with you.
A special attraction is the Manta Rays at night, which can be viewed at the hotel's own restaurant platform. Strong LED spotlights attract plankton in the dark, which in turn attracts manta rays. Since these are pure herbivores this works best at night. Kona is world famous as a manta spot. The animals themselves are up to 7m tall and float majestically through the water.
There is a spacious pool area with a pool bar bars. The pool is spacious and paradisiacal. There is even a big water slide, embedded in lava rock. There is a beverage service around the pool via the pool bar.
There are also enough sunbathing areas and chairs available for sunbathing.
Want more action and even have a scuba diving certification or feel like taking one, you can do it here in the warm waters of Hawaii. Here you can also do a Manta Ray night dive, alternatively also as a snorkel tour at sunset. Here we can recommend the following diving provider >>click
A traditional luau is held several times a week. Participation costs extra surcharge. You should have experienced the food and the show at least once. The local food with the Kala Pork is very tasty and the Hula show entertaining.
