As far as cable cars are concerned, we are usually rather too stingy to use them. In Dalat, however, it is worth the fun, because it is not expensive (70.000 dong per person for the round trip, just under 3 euros), the route is long and you have a wonderful view.
1. Stop: active monastery
We came out after the first drive at the Truc Lam Pagoda (an active monastery). The grounds are beautiful – with lots of flowers, a temple, forest and a lake that we walked to.
The only thing that was not nice there were the many huge spiders spinning their webs between the trees. So keep your eyes open when walking around, because the nets are not very high.
2. Sop: Valley of Love
Another great place to visit in Dalat is the Valley of Love, which can be reached quickly by moped (about 5 kilometers from Dalat). This huge and beautifully landscaped area is a kind of amusement park with attractions like a love maze, flower gardens, small rides, a zip line and of course many heart motifs.
3. Stop: Historical Village
Very close to the Love Park you will find the Historical Village. Since we didn't get any explanation about the house with its countless rooms, winding corridors and exhibits, we found the whole thing quite bizarre at the beginning.
But after a while we couldn't get enough of the beautiful thread pictures (we don't know the exact name of the pictures). We were able to look over the shoulder of the women during the production of the pictures: they sew different colored threads on a fabric wall and from this a beautiful picture is created. If we were not traveling around the world, we would have definitely bought one. Unfortunately we were not allowed to take pictures there.
As you can see, there is a lot to see in and around Dalat. In the next article you will learn u.a. more about Bao Dai's summer palace (an art deco villa from the 1930s) and the production of silk.
