I am B.P. patient, however my BP remains 120/80 since last 4 months but the doctor has neither reduce the dose nor change the medicines. Is it necessary for BP patient to take medicine forever though it remains well within the limit?
B.P. or Hypertension is a chronic disease, commonly called as 'silent killer'. (Persistence hypertension damages the arteries and Heart, sometimes without any apparent symptoms) Hypertension in your case seems to be under control with the prescribed medicine. There are many risk factors and causative factors that lead to hypertension. And treatment plan is advised considering various factors including causative factors, age, lifestyle, genetic predisposition. Your doctor may have not reduced the dose nor change the medicine as your BP is under limit with the prescribed medicine only. In most cases, anti hypertensive medicine needs to be taken lifetime. However, you are suggested exercise regularly,for 15-20 minutes, or walking can serve the purpose, with that do breathing exercise (yoga) that will help you to distress Mind and Body and keep you fit. Dietary restriction of certain food items plays major role in controlling the hypertension so please strictly follow the instructions given by your physician. Continues sitting position leads to stiffness of back muscles causing backache. You are advised to do back muscles stretching exercises regularly with regular walk for about 20- 25 minutes/day for at least 5 days a week. for time being you can take pain killer medicine or NSAIDs.
