exerciseFor those of us who exercise, it will come as no surprise that a morning stroll can perk up your mood. However a new study has shown that not only can light activity treat depression, it can actually prevent it.

Researchers looking at 26-years' worth of data have shown that people who exercise when they're young are less likely to become depressed as they get older.

The project, which analysed data from 30 previous studies, found that in 25 of them there was a link between lack of activity and being diagnosed with depression in later life.

British study suggests the number of weekly hours walked, not how fast, is what matters

walking_533(HealthDay News) -- Older men may reduce their risk of stroke by taking a daily walk. And that walk doesn't have to be especially brisk, British researchers report.

The new study suggests that walking for an hour or two might lower the risk of stroke by as much as one-third, and walking three hours or more daily might cut the risk by two-thirds.

"Stroke is a major cause of death and disability and it is important to find ways to prevent stroke, especially in older people who are at high risk," said lead researcher Barbara Jefferis, a senior research associate in the department of primary care and population health at University College London.

(HealthDay)—A hearty breakfast that includes protein and fat may actually help people with type 2 diabetes better control both their hunger and their blood sugar levels.

Patients who ate a big breakfast for three months experienced lower blood sugar(glucose) levels, and nearly one-third were able to reduce the amount of diabetic medication they took, according to an Israeli study that was scheduled for presentation Wednesday at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes annual meeting in Barcelona.

The review also found that, contrary to fears that patients and parents of asthmatic children sometimes have, exercise does not generally worsen the condition.

(Mail online) Middle aged men whose diet is loaded with junk food - such as processed meat and sugary drinks - are at greater risk from depression, according to a new study. However, researchers found eating plenty of fruit and vegetables wards off the blues.

A study of more than 2,000 men found a healthy diet reduced their risk of developing the mental illness which affects almost a fifth of British adults. And shedding the pounds by improving diet and exercising more was associated with fewer cases of the condition.

Nutritionist Anu Ruusunen, of the University of Eastern Finland, said: 'The study reinforces the hypothesis a healthy diet has potential not only in the warding off of depression, but also in its prevention.'

My Son was around 3yrs and 4months old.He used to suffer from a terrible dry cough.My husband and I would have sleepless nights not knowing what to do,and to see that little child suffer was painful.He would cough every 30 seconds, and the worst part is this cough would trouble him the most when he would sleep.Numerous errands to the doctors, bottles and bottles of cough syrup but none helped.Finally when I was talking about this to one of my apartment friends, she told me about Setuhealthcare –Dr.Sejal.I spoke to my husband and said we have tried all kinds of medicines why don’t we try homeopathy as well, and the best part is Dr.Sejal at that time was residing in the same apartment as us.And so I finally went to her, she patiently listened to my sons problem .She spent almost 2hrs with me asking me a hundred questions.I left her house with a few bottles of white pills.Little did I know that those medicines would do miracles..Honestly they did “WONDERS”.They really helped.Dr.Sejal would ask me to call her each day to give a feedback on his progress.If I missed calling her a single day she would call me.

(Daily mail) Keeping active for half an hour a day can reduce the risk of cancer of the womb by nearly half, according to a study.

Just 38 minutes of daily physical activity, combined with maintaining a healthy weight, could help to prevent 44 per cent of new cases in Britain. The World Cancer Research Fund's Continuous Update Project found strong evidence that about 3,700 cases could be prevented every year. 
Womb cancer mostly affects women aged over 60. The most common is endometrial – affecting the womb lining – which is fourth most common of all cancers affecting British women.
