Starvation diets, fad diets and quick fixes will eliminate some of the vital food groups from your daily meal plan, such as fats and carbohydrates. Although you will start losing weight and fat from the mid-section at a rapid pace, you will become weak day by day. Eating excessive amounts of any food causes weight gain.

Carbohydrates convert energy into glucose and sugar, and transport the same through bloodstream. While simple carbs converts to sugars fast, and spikes the insulin levels, causing frequent hunger pangs, complex carbs can give you slow and steady results. Restrict your simple carb consumption, and include healthy doses of complex carbs that gradually release in your bloodstream. Good sources of complex cabs are broccoli, asparagus, celery, apples, whole grain products, eggplant and pears.

Fiber and Insulin

The body can metabolize simple sugars that cause blood glucose spikes. As the blood glucose count of the body rises, more insulin is produced. Insulin is one of the vital hormones that help in regulating blood glucose levels. Insulin spike is a cause of fat storage and weight. Therefore, having adequate fiber can decrease these spikes.
Fruit skin contains natural sources of fiber, such as apples, guava, pears, citrus fruits and berries. The ones to avoid are bananas, mangoes, grapes, dates and pineapples.

Exercises

The role of exercise is undoubtedly vital for losing belly fat. Diet alone cannot be very effective in losing fat from the belly. Thus, you must include resistance training, strength training, interval training, and cardio exercises in your daily routine.

Exercises help in targeting the fatty zones of the body. They also allow the body to burn more calories, and increase your metabolic rate, which, in turn, promote fat loss from various parts of the body, including the belly area.
