A study conducted by cardiologists from University of Maryland Medical Centre in Baltimore recorded that people suffering from heart diseases were 40% less likely to laugh as compared to people of the same age without heart diseases.

Mental stress damages blood vessel’s lining and favours building of fat and cholesterol deposits, which block blood vessels and lead to heart problems.

Laughter may help to reduce stress and subsequent other events from happening. Hence Dr.Michael Miller, a lead of the study says,

“The recommendation for a healthy heart may one day be exercise, eat right and laugh a few times a day.”
