Simple ways to stay calm and get relaxed during holidays... written by Monisha

bellsHolidays are meant to enjoy, get relaxed and spend quality time with loves ones, however, sometimes the overexcitement or over expectations can ruin them. Holidays are hectic; the entire running around can cause you to start yelling, can disturb the tranquility at home and can often lead to unwanted distress. Expectations lead to untold pressures, which ends up disturbing the peace. Unwanted pressure adds up to friction, which leaves an irritable atmosphere at home and amongst your loved ones.
Feeling angry, frustrated and overwhelmed during the holidays is common among a lot of people, but staying calm, usually helps you deal with the situations in a reasonably pleasurable way.
Understanding this feeling can be challenging, but is important as it helps you be calmer and makes you take a step back and think of innovative ways to an enjoyable Holiday!

Here are some simple ways, which will help you stay calmer.

Remain peaceful: Deal with things patiently; weather it’s cleaning and decorating your house or baking cookies, working at things peacefully; eases your work and makes your day more fun.

Be realistic: Be clear of what you want to accomplish, understand your needs and wants. Be precise this will help you finish all your work on time.

Ignore negativity: As family obligations pile up and we try to work very hard at making things look perfect, but often being positive and keeping the cool helps. Negativity can only make things worst and can leave you feeling dull.

Things do not have to be perfect: Yes we often want the house to look perfect and we have to buy the perfect gift for out loved ones; as we want to see everyone happy and contented, but its not possible to be perfect every time.

Lower your expectations: Most times we have high hopes and expectations from others, which may sometimes hurt us and leave us felling frustrated; by lowering our expectations, we can handle our situations in a calmer manner.

Trust your instincts: Appreciate more and be thankful, by trusting your instincts. As celebrating the holidays year after year with family is a reminder that you need to be thankful for everything you have received.

Simplify your work: Ease yourself from clutter and make things easy for everyone around. Keep things simple and be generous in sharing a hand or helping others if possible.

You cannot keep everyone happy:While visiting family during holidays it is hard to meet everyone’s expectations and keep everyone happy, although you would want everyone to be happy and satisfied; sometimes its okay to say “No” to a few things.

Take breaks: Breaks are a must, planning ahead and deciding in advance on taking breaks a couple times a during the day can help you relax and become calmer.

Ask for help: Asking for help and delegating some things like gift-wrapping and Christmas tree decorations to other family members is a good option as this gives you some extra time to finish some things that you enjoy.

Look forward to a peaceful quality time spent with family and friends: Remember your past happy holidays, plan on having a fun filled time with family and friends, ignore a few mistakes and plan on spending a good time with your loved ones. Smile often-Try to forgive and forget.

Start a new mantra: Start a new mantra and make sure you make it a point to let everyone know you along with the whole family would like to have a peaceful holiday and this would be possible if we make a good effort and “avoid yelling”- Yelling only makes things worst and leaves a bad impression among your family members; this will help you control your reactions and will help you loosen up by letting go.

Often learning how emotions work and understanding what you are going through and why, helps you learn and understand how people or loved ones around you feel and go through.

Another great way to reduce the stress is use supplements that lower your cortisol levels. Make you feel so much better, and as you reduce over-all stress the body is better able to repair itself. Consider fertile egg extract and amino acid supplements.
