skin_treatments_in_rains_206x150 Long summers in any tropical country are usually a drag, but as soon as the monsoon approaches it brings with it a sigh of relief. The weather sure does cool down but brings with it, a lot of challenges; which includes, infections, allergies, water borne diseases and skin irritations. In monsoon adjusting to the weather and keeping our skin healthy is very important.
Here are some tips to keep your skin looking flawless.
Dietary Care:
  • Depending on your skin type, skin can either become, oily or dry in the monsoon; constant wetting and drying can cause dehydration. To avoid dehydration drink ample amounts of fluids especially water. Have a nutritious, healthy diet, which includes a lot of fruits as they help maintain the glow on your skin.
Beware!
  • Acne becomes a major hassle during the monsoon. To avoid acne keep your face refreshed, use wet wipes or wash your face a couple of times in a day. Use anti bacterial face wash to take care of sweat and grim caused by humidity. This will help you get rid of impurities, dirt and dust.

Cleansing tips:

  • It is very essential to keep your skin clean; washing your skin with a good soap free cleanser can help you get rid of dead cells. Using a face scrub twice a week will keep your skin looking radiant.
  • A liquid deep cleaning face wash to keep your skin oil free can be used to leave face looking healthier.

Precautionary measures:

  • Humid weather generally brings in series of fungal infections.  Areas like toes and armpits are prone to develop fungal infection as moisture accumulates quickly in these areas. Chances of developing itchy, reddish, flaky patches on the body, especially in skin folds, are more in monsoon, hence to protect yourself  from fungal infection it is better to  avoid getting wet. Use of antifungal soap and antifungal powder will keep those areas dry. Constrain yourself from taking a very hot shower, instead take a mild or lukewarm shower.
  • If you get wet in the heavy rain make sure you change into dry  clothes as soon as possible, refrain yourself from getting wet or being in wet clothes for a long time as this can give way to  fungal infection.
  • Avoid wearing closed shoes and as far as possible try to keep your feet dry. Instead keeping an extra pair of footwear in the office would be a good idea to keep your feet dry.
  • Avoid using a lot of makeup such as foundation creams or color-based products as they can leave your skin looking dull.
  • Have a habit of using a good skin toner to keep skin looking radiant.  Application of moisturizer before bedtime helps to nourish the dry skin. Use oilfree moisturizer for oily skin.
  • Use a sunscreen lotion (>=SPF 15) everyday, even if it is not very sunny day, to protect yourself from harmful ultraviolet rays.
  • Good night sleep: Getting a good night sleep is must to rejuvenate skin.

Food Facts

  • Add Carrots in your diet that are good source of vitamin C and  beta-carotene- which makes skin young looking, similarly, green leafy vegetables contain many important minerals, which are known to prevent wrinkles. Beetroot contains iron, which purifies the blood and gives it a rich glow.
  • Having oatmeal for breakfast helps skin looking fresh. Eating the right serving of nuts in a day protects from dryness of skin as nuts contain iron. Eating whole grains prevent peeling of skin.

Just take care of few things and enjoy revitalizing Monsoon...
